Sushi Time is Ruby Time, with Joey

Friday afternoon I popped by my favorite sushi place, Ruby Asian Bistro to catch up with one of my best friends from college. Before I go on and tell you how delicious all the food was, I must inform you that this place is my hidden secret and you should feel very special that I am sharing it with you.  I honestly can't remember how I stumbled upon this place, but I'm so happy I did!

Ruby's is a small and interesting restaurant with a fun decor, that is bright and has loads of color! Oddly enough, the ceilings are my favorite part because the paint colors change from bright yellow to sea-like blues and greens and ends with a beautiful magenta.  All of which interact nicely when the sun is shining.

Fun seating options for two

Ever since we graduated, both Joey and I have been super busy making plans to transition into our grown-up lives. I know, its crazy and scary and surreal.  It feels just like yesterday when we met for the first time in Albertus 111, completely oblivious as to what we were in for together during the next two years.

Isn't he a cutie?

Unfortunately (for me), Joey is moving to the big 'ol city and finding one of those "grown-up jobs" and this is the last time I'll see him for a little while.  So we had lots of eating I mean catching up to do!

We both ordered an iced sweet green tea with lemon and mint, setting us each back only $1.00! Then we began devouring some of our favorites:

Vegetable Hot and Sour Soup with mushrooms, bamboo shoots, tofu, preserved radish, and egg

I'm not that big on soup, usually. However, this little number really makes my tummy grumble.  The best part about it is the price.  This lovely sized cup of soup only cost me $.50 with the purchase of a Maki Triple.  They load up the soup with veggies, so its not like your just sipping up broth.

Next up, Ruby's Crab & Cream Cheese Wontons, costing only $4.00.  These crunchy pouches of deliciousness just melt in your mouth.

Mmmmm

Wontons with a side of sweet & sour sauce

Joey got the Shrimp Tempura, Miami roll, and California Roll

The Miami Roll includes Salmon, kani and avocado with spicy mayo

Wasabi, anyone?

I enjoyed the Spicy Tuna, Boston Roll, and Shrimp Tempura

The Boston Roll has shrimp, lettuce, cucumber, and mayo; very light and refreshing

I like sushi

If you're wondering... Did they eat ALL of that?!  The answer is yes, yes we did.
Every last piece in fact.  And it was all exquisite!

Want to guess the best part of this entire lunch date?....

Only $25.92 for two glasses of iced green tea, two soups, an appetizer, and six rolls of sushi! You cannot beat that, so spend that money you saved and leave your server a generous tip!
Overall, I highly recommend you all to go there on your next lunch break or heck, whenever you're free.  Its fun and delicious, however it is a small place with only one server, so be patient, relax, and enjoy!

Let me know what sushi places you like to go to!

P.S.- Good Luck Joey, I wish you nothing but the best in the Big Apple!
