This weekend was full of friends, fun times, and food...really, really, really, good food.
It started with a late dinner at the Pump Station with my best friends from college; Ms. Katie and Mr. Joey. We started off with fried calamari; extra crispy, extra marinara sauce, spicy cherry peppers, topped with a decent amount of delicious balsamic reduction drizzled over the entire plate.
Joey had one of my all time favorites... The Pump Station Burger. It is one of the best burgers you will ever have in this lovely little city! The ground beef is mixed with their Kick-Ass Brown Ale, scallions, cheddar jack cheese, and barbecue sauce. Topped with crispy bacon, perfectly melted pepper jack cheese, and spicy chipotle ranch dressing.
Its juicy and delicious! Ms. Katie had their Prime Rib Sandwich, which was topped with sauteed mushrooms, onions, and Swiss cheese and had a generous cup of au jus on the side. It looked and smelt delicious...and those fries were of crisp perfection! The fries tasted even better when dipped in the au jus!
I decided to indulge just a wee bit and order my absolute favorite dish: Lobster and shrimp mac & cheese with Maine lobster meat and Gulf shrimp sautéed in a seafood alfredo, tossed with penne pasta and topped with crunchy herb bread crumbs. It's an absolutely ridiculous dish....but ridiculous in all of the right ways.
There were huge chunks of meaty lobster bits and enough shrimp for every single bite. This is an extremely rich dish, which leaves plenty of leftovers for the next day!
Now that the three of us were in a heavily induced food coma we decided to call it an early night and just relax at home . . . We made plans for a homemade brunch at my house for the next day. . .
Brunch blog post to come!
