Troy's Confectionery Wine Bar

On Saturday I decided to just relax and treat myself to a 'me day'. Which meant giving myself a manicure and facial (with some of my favorite products) while catching up on a few of my favorite shows(current favorites: Mistresses, Rookie Blue, and re-watching Grey's Anatomy). Later in the day I met up with my lovely friend Alexa (make sure you check out her adorable blog) where we went to The Charles F. Lucas Confectionery & Wine Bar

Since Alexa's apartment is so close to the wine bar we decided to walk there and enjoy the beautiful day. Starting in April, Troy placed multiple statues of Uncle Sam all throughout the city. Each of the 30 statues were painted by local artists in hopes of promoting the city's history.

Once we arrived at the confectionery we decided on the most important thing first: wine.
We opted for a carafe of their house red...on tap! (Is it just me or is wine on tap extremely cool?).
Looking over the menu I wanted everything, but Alexa and I agreed to start with the Eggplant Caponata....for a whopping $5!

This. Was. Amazing. I've never had caponata before but I am officially a big fan! It was a cold dish, which I wasn't expecting, but was pleasantly surprised when I first tried it. The flavor and texture combination was perfect. I'm definitely going to order this again.
Next up, cheese! Since Alexa isn't as big of a meat eater* as I am we ordered a cheese platter. We chose one type of cheese from three out of the four categories. Luckily, we both have the same taste when it comes to my favorite food, which was a match made in cheese-heaven for me!
*They have an amazing options for charcuterie, including: cured meats, paté, and smoked duck. Mmmmm!
From the 'Smooth & Silky' part of the menu we had: The Kunik (my favorite), which was creamy and smooth with hints of lemon and paired with gingersnaps.
Our choice from the 'Little Stinkers' was the Red Hawk which is a triple cream cheese paired with an apple cider jelly.
The third choice from the 'Firm but Friendly' section was the Madeline which was goaty and salty and resembled a pecorino texture. It was complemented by an orange marmalade.
Each and every time I have been to the Confectionery I've had a wonderful and memorable experience. The atmosphere is so welcoming, the food is (obviously) amazing, and the staff is so warm and friendly. If you're ever in Troy, or heck, if you're ever in the Captial Region promise me you stop in? It's a fantastic girls night, date night, or 'me night'! The weekends get extremely busy, so get there early or just treat yourself during the week!
If you've been to the Confectionery let me know what you think! And if you have an eggplant caponata recipe for me, please share (I beg of you)!
Keep up with my latest happenings on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook.
