DIY Flower Hair Accessory

As you know from my previous Wish List Blog Post I've been wanting a floral headband for quite some time.  But after seeing this DIY tutorial I figured, why buy something that I can make myself?! So, I stopped by the craft store and picked up the supplies. My lovely blogger friend, Alexa, from the Miss Rosie O  blog came over and we channeled our inner crafter to make them!
So they're not actual headbands, they're floral bun wraps. Which is even better, because my go to hair style is a top knot and I'm always looking for something to spruce it up a bit.

The materials needed to make the hair accessory for yourself include....
A variety of silk flowers, paper wrapped wire, flower wire, ribbon, wire cutters, and a hot glue gun.

So I'm sure you can figure out how to make these adorable little hair pieces from the tutorial I've included as a link. But I'll give you a brief run through anyway.
We started off by folding a 14 inch piece of paper wrapped wire and  twisted it to create loops on both ends with a slight twist in the middle.

Next you'll place the silk flowers in a position you like and wrap a bit of the flower wire around the base of the flowers to secure them in place. Eventually yours will look something like this...

Now don't worry, it may seem a little messy, but once you've finished arranging the flowers you wont even notice, I promise.
When you have all the flowers secured, glued, and where you want them you will place a piece of ribbon through the loops so you can secure it to your bun.

Once you're satisfied tie it around your bun.

Now rock your new flower hair accessory all summer long!
What is your favorite summer hair accessory?

(p.s.- don't forget to check out Alexa's blog, she's doing a post on these crafty little flower hair creations, too!)
As always, keep up with me on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook!
