HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY TO ME!
This past Friday was the one year Blogiversary of the Simple Little Treat! (I'm a little late with this post because I've been super busy getting back into the swing of things after having a full week off at the beach.)
I can't believe I've been blogging for a full year already, it seems like yesterday when I wrote my first post.
Over the past twelve months I've learned a lot - not only about myself, but about blogging and life in general.
Here are a few tips I've learned along the way.
Tip #1: If you want to start your own blog, do it!
I was so hesitant about creating my blog in the beginning. I'm pretty sure I toyed with the idea of starting one a few weeks after I discovered my (now) blogging mentor - The lovely Rosie of The Londoner. I then waited another month or two before I finally took the plunge and created The Simple Little Treat. I remember thinking, what would I write about? Who would want to read what I have to say? Will I stick with it?
I now realize I shouldn't have worried - I write about what I love and enjoy, of course people will read my blog, and I'll stick with it because I love it. So - don't be hesitant or insecure! Create a blog where you can write about everything that excites you and you'll have a wonderful blog and place to look back on your fondest memories!
Tip #2: Take advantage of social media
You want to bring more traffic to your blog, right? So make sure you take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities that social media can bring to your blog. Get it into the blogosphere!
*Make sure you have social buttons - keep them prominent and up towards the top of your blog.
*Pin the photos from your blog onto your themed Pinterest boards. Pinterest is growing in popularity each day - especially with bloggers. It's a fun and creative way for you to engage with your readers and identify influencers.
*Utilize blog aggregators (I just created an account on Bloglovin') to connect with other bloggers. You can find bloggers that are both similar and different from you! Plus, its a great way to network.
*Make sure you use hashtags when sharing blog posts on different social platforms, but don't over use them! Hashtags are a great way for you to connect with people with similar content, but can look messy if you overuse.
Tip #3: Don't be afraid to be a shutterbug
If you want your blog to attract people you need to have great photographs to go along with you're great content. So, get yourself a nice camera and snap away!
Don't worry what others will think when you're taking your lovely pictures! You're doing it for your blog, so rock on!
I hope you find these tips helpful! And thank you so much for reading The Simple Little Treat this past year!
