KINDERHOOK FARMERS MARKET

M and I headed down to Columbia County last weekend for some distillery work & fun.

We set up a table at The Kinderhook Farmers Market where M offered tastings and I (eventually) wandered around to check out all of the other vendors.

We arrived at the market early enough to set up...where I did my best to scope out the other vendors. I don't know if its a sense of pride for a local community or excitement for something new to explore, but all I know for sure is that I was ecstatic to explore any and everything that was being sold that day.

My stomach was growling having not eating a thing because we rushed out of the house so early. I kept my eye on the bakery man setting up his area.
I knew right away, he'd be my first victim. I bought a cheese danish and berry scone.

This danish...was pure perfection. Buttery and flaky and cheesy (my mouth is watering for one as I'm writing this blog post). If I could remember the name of this baker man I'd tell you, but I forgot to take business cards from the vendors. (I'll update soon and let you know, YOU HAVE TO GO).

The scone was delicious with loads of berries that were perfectly sweet once baked. I only wish I could have warmed it up first.

We were set up next to the Chatham Brewing Company, a friendly bunch with delicious beer samples!!

After a couple of hours of helping M I decided to wander off by myself and see what the rest of this farmers market had to offer, besides the delicious whiskey and ice cold beer.

I discovered some adorable cards and other handmade items by a local crafter.

Some deliciously crisp and colorful apples.

A great variety of potatoes...

Bright yellow cauliflower.

Funky vibrant eggplant.

Bunches of string beans!

Fresh leeks and heirloom tomatoes.

And gorgeous wild flowers.

What type of flower is this, does anyone know?

They're simply perfection.

Before the rest of the vendors closed down for the day I decided to run over and grab some deliciously fresh nachos.

They were nacho perfection!

It was an absolutely wonderful way to spend my Saturday. The people of Kinderhook were amazing; both M and I were surprised at how friendly and welcoming everyone was. We cannot wait until next time (Saturday, September 28th).

So please, wherever you are...support your nearby community and head down to the Kinderhook Farmers Market to enjoy a couple hours of friendly conversation (and whiskey samples). Make sure you take in all of the wonderful surroundings and stock up on the local goodies, because I sure did!
Check them out every Saturday until October 12th from 8:30am - 12:30pm!
Stay up to date via their Facebook page: Kinderhook Farmers Market. Please make sure to leave a comment and let me know if you went and share the goodies you brought home!
