After ordering drinks we took a little extra time looking over the menu to decide what we'd have for dinner. The Shop offers a limited number of small & large plates, as well as a variety of hot dogs with different toppings.
I decided to split the poutine with a friend, which were served a little different from how I normally see them plated. Rather than french fries, The Shop smothered fingerling potatoes with a rich brown gravy and melted cheese curds. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed these...the gravy was out of this world.
I chose the Burlington hot dog with melted cheddar and bacon-jalapeno sauce.
The cheese was good, however I would have liked to taste a bit more of the bacon & jalapeno in the cheese sauce.
Some of the other girls ordered the panko crusted fried goat cheese balls.
They were served with an onion jam and topped with charred tomato sauce.
The Saigon hot dog was piled with pickled carrots & daikon, cilantro, caramelized sriracha & Vietnamese mayonnaise.
When the food came and the girls and I took a quick break from talking and dug in.
We were all happy with our choices. I highly recommend you head over to The Shop. It's a great place to sit down and catch up with friends or even enjoy a casual date night.
I'm beyond lucky to have such an amazing group of ladies in my life.
